I worked at a hotel during my college years (and for a little while beyond graduation.) Supposedly the Dunkin' Donuts guy stayed at our hotel and while I never met him, I heard from the overnight crew that checked him in that he was a total cranky toolbag to the hotel staff. I guess he was tired of hearing viewers ask him to repeat that line "time to make the donuts" one too many times.
Pam-- Its always a bummer to find out that a pop culture icon that you've has enjoyed has turned out, in real life, to be such a negative person. But I guess one of the positives of pop culture is that we can keep on enjoying the character, apart from the actor. Forever and ever, so long as there is Youtube, the Dunkin Donuts guy will be getting up to make the donuts... and we can say that line and laugh at it all we want. :)
I loved the Grey Poupon commercial. I used to say that to my brother all the time back then!
ReplyDeletePS: Happy Easter Lazlo! :)
Chelly-- Happy Easter to you too!!
ReplyDeleteAnd a Happy Easter to all my readers who celebrate it!!
Love that Wendy's has brought back the Where's the Beef slogan.
ReplyDeleteI love the commercials from back then and recently have been enjoying watching them on You Tube. Hope that you had a lovely Easter day.
ReplyDeleteOldSchool80s--I wasn't aware that they brought those back... I remember those '80s commercials fondly.
ReplyDeleteLaraAnn--Thank you! Those old commercials are definitely memorable.
