I was much y...This really is an extraordinary film. I was much younger than 12 when I first saw it, and I understood it in one way; revisiting it as an adult and in a foreign language you understand different bits of the story, particularly what the adults are doing (for example, as a child I didn't get that they were doctors trying to resuscitate ET as if he were a human) but the overall story is unchanged and just as powerful.
